We set up Reach4thealps in 2002 and we currently have a portfolio of 5 catered (winter only) and 15 self-catered properties in the Morzine & Les Gets area. Summer Crew Housekeeping Role

Couple Chalet Host Positions, Morzine, 2024/25

We are looking to recruit 3 Chalet Host couples to run, La Ferme De La Coutettaz, Chalet Aux Joux and Cairn lodge.

Do you both or does one of you have professional catering experience? Do you want to work for a small family run company where you are not just a number but a vital team member? Are you organised, hard working and capable of running your own chalet? Have you worked together before and do you enjoy looking after people? Do you love the mountains and skiing or boarding?

The role requires someone who gets on well with people from all walks of life, can cook to a very high standard, is well organised, takes pride in doing the job properly with great attention to detail and has a lot of energy!

You will manage your own chalet, providing breakfast with a daily cooked option, baking a cake for afternoon tea, preparing hot and cold canapes and preparing and serving a 3-course evening meal, as well as cleaning the chalet daily and changing over the chalet on the day of departure/arrival of the guests.

Food is really important to us and is one of the reasons why so many guests come back to stay with us year after year. We work to a set menu which we have created with an experienced chef who has experience running a chalet to ensure that the menu is delicious and varied but also achievable for our hosts!  As well as being fabulous cooks the job requires you to take a genuine interest in the guests, welcoming them and creating a warm friendly atmosphere whilst keeping the chalet spotlessly clean, ensuring the bathrooms & bedrooms are cleaned daily. The role requires the chalet host to buy for the menu (thereby keeping within budget), do a weekly stock check and to do the grocery shopping .

A Typical Day

Morning:

  • Laying out continental breakfast & cook daily hot option
  • Make beds, clean bathroom & empty bins
  • Tidy, vacuum communal living areas & wash floors
  • Prepare & lay out afternoon tea
  • Prep for evening meal (consider kids meals/dietary options)

Evening:

  • Clear away afternoon tea
  • Serve children’s meals if required

  • Wash and tidy up, clean kitchen

Single Chalet Host, Morzine 2024/25

We are looking to recruit 3 single Chalet Hosts for 2 brand new catered chalets, Chalet Piste Noire (sleeps 8-10) and Chalet Piste Rouge (sleeps 8). These are two chalets in the same location with a team of 3 staff.

You will work closely with the other hosts sharing the cooking as we work on a set menu so it is a nice opportunity for single applicants who want to be part of a small team.

It is ESSENTIAL that you have previous catering experience, whether it is professional catering experience in a restaurant or hotel environment or having been a Chalet Host previously (where cooking rather than assisting a chef was required). The role requires someone who gets on well with people from all walks of life, can cook to a high standard, is well organised, takes pride in doing the job properly with great attention to detail, has a lot of energy and can work as part of a team.

Catered Chalet Manager Role, Winter 2024/25

We are looking to take on a Chalet Manager  who will primarily focus quality control : maintaining the Reach4thealps high standards in service across 5 our catered chalets in Morzine.

As a result, the position is very diverse encompassing guest relations, staff management, driving guests when required for slope runs, monitoring standards of cleanliness and delivery of our set menu in both quality and presentation of our food.

With the focus being on the catered service it is essential that the candidate is an experienced and capable cook to help set our menu, train the hosts on delivering the menu and to be able to stand in for a chalet host in the event of illness or injury.

Main responsibilities

Monitoring Standards

  • Weekly inspections of the kitchens and store rooms. Checking staff are complying with good food hygiene practise. Food is properly stored and rotated.
  • Frequent check of the general cleanliness of the chalets: entrance areas, ski and boot storage areas, communal areas, tea and coffee “stations” which must be kept replenished and clean, honesty bar fridges and outside areas and hot tubs
  • Ensure the “hotel” cleans of the bathrooms is done correctly and towels are changed mid week and laundry put out on time so that it comes back when required.
  • Being present at breakfast and dinner service to ensure that the chalet hosts are delivering the menu to the standard we set during training week.
  • Monitor wine supplies and check that staff are offering guests the proper selection of wine.

Guests relations

  • Visiting the chalets and spending time with the guests to ensure that they are happy and their expectations are being met by the chalet team and also that they feel valued (we have many repeat gusts).
  • Dealing with guest’s complaints if they arise in a non-confrontational manner with the aim being that issues are quickly resolved so guests can enjoy the rest of their holiday.
  • Doing slope transfers on staff days off, so again having that guest contact.
  • Keeping staff & therefore guests well informed of all events and updated on any relevant information, carrying out any requests (such as booking activities, booking restaurants etc) and helping to make their stay the best holiday experience.
  • Be aware of any special guest requirements, extra beds, cots, high chairs, baby seats, dietary requirements etc to ensure that chalet staff know about these.
  • Have good in resort knowledge of restaurants, ski area, ski hire, ski passes, snow shoe routes etc

Shopping

  • Be familiar with the ingredient list that follows the menu and the various suppliers.
  • Support the staff in their stock taking and shopping planning/ordering.
  • Ensure staff stick to the menu and shopping list so we keep within budget.

Changeover Day

  • Check the guests manifest so you are aware of early arrivals/late departures so you can give help to chalets if required and help with in resort slope runs, taking guests to ski hire etc on arrival day.
  • Make sure there is always someone to welcome guests into a chalet.
  • Ensure that the changeover cleans are done to the high standard required and staff work efficiently , help the chalet hosts manage departing and arriving guests.

Staff Management

  • Be a support to the chalet staff and prepared to give a helping hand when necessary .
  • Manage our drivers and hosts and ensure they carry out their roles according to Reach4thealps standards as thoroughly and efficiently as possible, leading by example.
  • Stand in cooking or cleaning in the event of illness, injury or on a temporary basis in the event when we have to lose a staff member
  • Deal with grievance and disciplinary/staff policies in line with company standards
  • Check staff accommodation so that they are treated with care.

Maintenance

Spot any issues and communicate with our maintenance person. Meet plumber/ electrician tradesmen on site if required.

Paperwork

Collect any receipts on a weekly basis for petty cash & promocash & any other suppliers.

Surveys

Ensure that every group completes a questionnaire per chalet per week and collate the feedback so we can make improvements & address any issues. Feedback positives to the staff & if any issues speak (no email) to staff to get their point of view.

Tripadvisor

Encourage staff to get guests to leave positive TripAdvisor reviews. Set up an internal competition and keep chalet staff & office informed of our rankings.

Communication

The Chalet Manager role is a key link between office and chalet staff.

    Chalet Helper/Driver

    We are looking to recruit Chalet Helpers/Drivers based at our largest catered chalet, Cairn Lodge.

    Your key responsibilities will be:

    • General help in the chalets
    • In resort transportation of guests
    • Airport transfers
    • Organising ski hire for guests & the point of contact for all ski related questions

    General help in the chalet means helping the chalet hosts with things such as setting the table and serving both breakfast and dinner. Serving guests canapés and aperitif pre dinner, clearing tables & washing up. Keeping the honesty bar stocked, maintaining the hot tub, setting the fires, snow clearing, being in charge of wine supplies, being in charge of keeping the garage areas, where skis and boots are stored, clean and tidy and just generally being an extra pair of hands.

    Our in resort service involves shuttling the guests from the chalet to the slopes in the mornings from 8.30 to 10.00 & afternoon pick ups from the slopes from 3.30pm onwards. As well as actually driving the guests, you will need to organise the guests in a nice but efficient manner so that the service runs as smoothly as possible.

    Our main transfer day is on a Sunday when you will be required to do 2 trips to the airport, in addition you will most likely have to do a trip on Saturday or one mid week when we have short break stays. You will be responsible for looking after your van, keeping it clean, full of diesel, checking oil & that water is filled for wipers.

    In terms of being the point of contact for all ski related questions, we would need you to quickly gain good knowledge of the local area, ski lift opening times, best places to ski/board, good beginner areas, be able to advise on restaurants on the mountain and also help guests at the ski hire shops that we use & be helpful in putting them in contact with ski schools if they require lessons. You would need to keep guests informed on the weather on a daily basis and any events on the mountain.

    Standard daily tasks

    Morning:

    • Help hosts lay out & serve breakfast
    • Check hot tub & add chemicals/ water if needed
    • Defrost van, clear snow
    • Restock honesty bar
    • Clean fire, set new fire
    • Run guests to the slopes or ski hire shop

    DUE TO REGULATIONS FOR DRIVING IN SWITZERLAND FOLLOWING BREXIT & FRENCH EMPLOYMENT RULES WE ARE LOOKING FOR
    * EU passport holders
    * British passport holders/other nationalities with French residency which is called a Titre De Sejour which allows them to work in France (who have already been working in France for a minimum of 12 months). You need to be prove you have paid social contributions for the last year ( so for example provide paylsips for the last 12 months). You will also need to have 2 years professioanal driving experince. This can be transporting people or goods or even just using a company car for the purpose of work and letter/s from pervious employers will justify this. It needs to add up to 2 years driving experience within the last 10 years.

    Resort Crew, Single or Couple Position

    Resort Crew are full time positions mixing housekeeping, regular hot tub upkeep, breakfast cover in the Catered chalets and flexibilty in assisting the Resort Manager. Our Resort Crew are an integral part of the team! Tasked with cleaning the self-catered properties at the weekends to the high Reach4thealps standards, ensuring hot tub upkeep and mid stay cleans in the catered chalets and stepping in for the Chalet Hosts to cover breakfast on their day off.

    Being a Crew member is a great opportunity for those looking for a verstile role but who perhaps don’t have the catering/ cheffing experience required to be a full time chalet host.

    The Chalet Crew’s work will involve managing the self-catered properties which entails:

    * Doing the changeover cleans (Saturday & Sunday)
    * Organising the linen (checking it comes back on time from the laundry company) and checking stocks of cleaning products.
    * Being the guest point of contact for certain properties and meeting and greeting the guests on arrival, handing over lift passes.
    * Setting the fire and making sure kindling and firewood is available for guests.
    * Communicating transfer times to the guests.
    * Having a good knowledge of the self-catered properties & resort.
    * Maintain hot tubs (training provided), clear snow.
    * Assisting the Resort Manager with designated, regular tasks.

    The Resort Crew’s work will also involve helping at our catered chalets which entails:

    * Prepare & cook breakfast & afternoon tea for our catered chalets when providing cover for chalet hosts mornings off
    * Help with mid stay changeovers at catered properties when we have short breaks
    * Driving guests to and from some of the chalets to the slopes (mini bus driver training provided, driving licence dependant)
    * Help with weekend changeover when there is time

    Resort Crew are full time positions mixing housekeeping, regular hot tub upkeep, breakfast cover in the Catered chalets and flexibilty in assisting the Resort Manager. Our Resort Crew are an integral part of the team! Tasked with cleaning the self-catered properties at the weekends to the high Reach4thealps standards, ensuring hot tub upkeep and mid stay cleans in the catered chalets and stepping in for the Chalet Hosts to cover breakfast on their day off.

    Being a Crew member is a great opportunity for those looking for a verstile role but who perhaps don’t have the catering/ cheffing experience required to be a full time chalet host.

    The Chalet Crew’s work will involve managing the self-catered properties which entails:

    * Doing the changeover cleans (Saturday & Sunday)
    * Organising the linen (checking it comes back on time from the laundry company) and checking stocks of cleaning products.
    * Being the guest point of contact for certain properties and meeting and greeting the guests on arrival, handing over lift passes.
    * Setting the fire and making sure kindling and firewood is available for guests.
    * Communicating transfer times to the guests.
    * Having a good knowledge of the self-catered properties & resort.
    * Maintain hot tubs (training provided), clear snow.
    * Assisting the Resort Manager with designated, regular tasks.

    The Resort Crew’s work will also involve helping at our catered chalets which entails:

    * Prepare & cook breakfast & afternoon tea for our catered chalets when providing cover for chalet hosts mornings off
    * Help with mid stay changeovers at catered properties when we have short breaks
    * Driving guests to and from some of the chalets to the slopes (mini bus driver training provided, driving licence dependant)
    * Help with weekend changeover when there is time

    We are looking for a presentable, trustworthy, reliable, hardworking, considerate couple/friends who have cleaning/housekeeping experience and some catering experience (training will be given for both breakfast and evening service for the days you are required to cover). The Resort Crew need to be nice, friendly and enthusiastic with a professional manner for welcoming guests and helping them with any queries. We need those who can use their initiative to organise themselves so that the cleaning gets done thoroughly but quickly. We are searching for applicants who are happy to work as part of a large team and muck in where required.

    Hours/ Package

    • Competitive monthly salary paid through the French system (in euros)
    • All food while working
    • Portes Du Soleil ski pass
    • Ski/board  hire for the season
    • Uniform
    • Travel/flight to Morzine (budget of up to €100 pp)
    • There are 2 days off a week and 2.5 holiday/sick days per month that will be paid at the end of the season
    • Reach4thealps will also organise and pay for team events in the season, typically night sledging, cross country skiing and or a meal in a mountain restaurant, an important way to say thanks and to come together as a team and just have fun!
    • We also have high standard, well located accommodation that is available for rent though our sister company at a lower rate than the market average.

    Training

    Successful applicants will be offered a place on our winter training course commencing in early December. Reach4thealps will pay for the costs of the training provided by trained chefs & our management team.

    The employee will need to sort out their own insurance to cover their free time, skiing & personal belongings.

    DUE TO BREXIT & FRENCH EMPLOYMENT RULES WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

    * EU Passport holders
    * British passport holders/other nationalities with French residency which is called a Titre De Sejour (or who are in process of applying for residency) allowing them to work in France
    * Other nationalities with the right to work in France (young traveller working visa)
    * British passport holders who don’t have French residency BUT who have either worked a ski season before as a Chalet Host or who have relevant hospitality experience (we, as the employer would have to apply for a working visa for you)
