Swimming In Morzine & Les Gets

The swimming complex in Morzine has an indoor 25m pool and 2 smaller pools for children. It also has an outdoor Olympic size pool (50m x 21m), a shallow pool for children and a baby pool for toddlers with slides and water jets. There is also a large water slide, a bouncy castle, table tennis, children’s climbing frames, a multi activity area with mini-foot, basket ball and handball, beach volley ball pitches, a bar and restaurant and grassy areas for sunbathing and picnics. It really is quite an amazing complex and is FREE for guests staying in either Morzine or Les Gets with a Multi Pass. All Reach4thealps guests can purchase this pass for just €2 a day.

Also worth a visit is Aquariaz, a new water park in Avoriaz. It has been designed as an aquatic paradise in the mountains featuring a river with a gentle current, an aquatic halfpipe, a water playhouse, a paddling pool, a large pool with a climbing wall and tarzan rope swing you can jump off and then land in the water. It also has massage benches and an open-air jacuzzi heated to 34°C! This water park is more for playing in the water rather than swimming, it is a great family half day activity, perfect for good and bad weather days.

There is nothing quite like swimming in an Alpine lake taking in the mountain scenery and we have a choice on our doorstep either at the lake in Les Gets, at Lake Montriond or a little drive down the valley (30 minutes) to Lake Geneva.

Swimming In The Lakes & Water Sports

The Lake at Les Gets is manned by life gaurds from 28th June to 31st August and is FREE with the multi pass. The average water temperature is 22 degrees throughout the summer. A paddling area is also available for babies and toddlers. The lake has a water slide, children’s playground and beach volleyball pitch as well as the children’s pony rides & a fun bungy. There is roped off area for swimming only and then another area where you can play with dingies and inflatables. There are picnic tables and also a lovely restaurant that overlooks the lake.

Lake Montriond has is a huge lake which is great for swimming and water sports. It also has a smaller lake that is quite shallow and perfect for families. This little pool also has a waterfall and beach area that kids love playing in. The smaller lake is manned by life guards during July and August. The large lake is a bit fresher (average temperature of 19 degrees in summer) and you can also hire kayaks and stand up paddle boards.

If you are on holiday for a week or more it is well worth while taking a trip down to Thonon, either to the swimming pool complex on the lake front or to one of the many free beaches at Amphion, Sciez or Port De Sechez. The water is crystal clear and you can also try water sports such as stand up paddle boarding, windsurfing, kayaking or hire a pedalo!
