Looking ahead to summer 2018 with Reac4thealps

It’s never too early to look ahead to the summer and what amazing activities are coming up in the Portes du Soleil this year. Although we’re currently very much focused on snow – there’s still a little part of us that’s excited for the return of the hot weather, summer sunshine and long warm evenings. Reach4thealps is as much a summer holiday company as it is a ski chalet company, so why not consider swapping the beach for the mountains this year and trying out Morzine and Les Gets as your new summer holiday destination?!

Here are some of the best events taking place of the summer months that might tempt you to really consider us when you sit down to book your big summer getaway:

Mountain Biking in the Portes du Soleil

Pass’Portes du Soleil

Mountain bikers from around the world descend on Morzine and Les Gets for the Pass’Portes du Soleil. It’s a chance to ride the 80km of tracks and trails around the regions with the full use of lifts and an excellent supply of food stations. It’s a fantastic atmosphere in both resorts and people come time and time again to enter the event. It’s taking place over the 29th and 30th June and also the 1st July. If you book with us before the 18th January, we are also able to arrange your entry into the event before it goes on sale to the public.

Crankworx

Over the week of the 20th-24th June, some of the world’s best mountain bikers head to Les Gets for Crankworx, a huge exhibition of downhill riding. It’s the third year that it’s been in town and the atmosphere is electric. If you like your mountain biking, then you’ll love this event.

Tour de France in Annecy

If road biking is more your thing then you’ll be pleased to know that this year the Tour de France is in the neighbourhood! On Tuesday the 17th July, the 10th stage of the tour from Annecy to Le Grand Bornand takes place. Taking in some spectacular mountains, this looks set to be a fantastic stage of the world famous event.

Etape du Tour

The Etape is also back! If you love riding your bike as much as watching the professionals do it, then you too can attempt to ride the 10th stage of the famous race. Roads will be closed between Annecy and Le Grand Bornand for the huge event which takes place on the 8th July. Why not spend a week training in the mountians of Morzine before taking place in the Etape du Tour at the end of the week? Lots of the Reach4thealps team will be giving the famous race a whirl, so why not join us?

Here are some of the “not to be missed” activities on offer if you didn’t know what this amazing area is all about in the summer:

Lac Mondriond

Lake Montriond is a hive of activity in the summer, it’s fantastic for swimming, sunbathing, canoeing and kayaking. It’s also wonderful for a late afternoon bbq. With an incredible mountainous backdrop, don’t miss out on a chance to visit this stunning part of the Portes du Soleil.

Lake Geneva

If you’re reluctant to let go of the beach holiday you’ve always known, then don’t worry. The beautiful blue waters of lake Geneva and it’s pebbly beaches really do make you feel like you’ve take a trip to The Med. It’s only 20 minutes drive to Morzine and one of the most stunning and relaxing places to visit in the local area.

Indoor and outdoor swimming pool

Morzine is home to two fantastic swimming pools, an outdoor pool with an amazing slide and 2 great kid’s splash pools and a 25m indoor pool. It’s a firm favourite in the summer as is available on the multipass and has incredible views of the surrounding 3 peaks of Morzine. Swimming lengths has never been so beautiful! Also in the swimming pool complex you have a sauna area, tennis courts, kid’s play area and plenty to keep the whole family entertained for long periods of time!

Goat Village

Kids and adults will LOVE the Goat Village. Les Lindarets is about 20 minutes drive from Morzine and does exactly what it says on the tin! Hundreds of goats walk the streets of this little village – kids love to feed and stroke the animals. But be warned it’s a little bit stinky there!
